How To Have A Perfect Marriage. Announcements. Celebrations. Events.

I was in the middle of writing Zeek’s Loving Thorn, a novella of The Narcoleptic Vampire Series, when BAM! A discussion with a friend led to a discussion with my hubby, which led to an idea for a short story about marriage. It took me two weeks to write this dark comedy novelette–think The War of the Roses kind of comedy–and voila! I published my fifth twisted tale: How To Have A Perfect Marriage.

How To Have A Perfect Marriage Novelette CoverSynopsis:

Penola and Lennon have the perfect marriage because they follow twenty rules that ensure marital bliss. Controversial fiction author, Dicey Grenor, has released these rules so that couples everywhere can benefit from them. In case you’re wondering—hell yeah, it’s fiction…just like the “perfect” marriage. Fans of Dicey’s work will enjoy this novelette’s explosive combination of nonfiction and dark humor. New-to-Dicey readers will need to buckle up for this tongue-in-cheek ride and expect the unexpected.

It’s only 10k words. Takes about an hour or two to read. And I’m totally stoked that I was able to write something like this. So far, I’ve gotten nothing but positive responses. Yay!

Now, I have to get back to my paranormal novella so it can be ready within the next few weeks. Busy, busy, busy time.

Speaking of being busy–I was recently interviewed for Mahogany Keys, an ongoing series about The Complex Image of the African-American Woman. You can see my thoughts on blacks and sexuality, natural hair, and other issues that affect me directly as a woman of color.

I’m also registered to be a guest at Houston’s annual COMICPALOOZA: The Texas International Comic Con, May 24-26th. I’ll be there along with other horror/sci-fi/fantasy authors, actors from some of my favorite shows, game enthusiasts, comic/anime artists, and those of us who like to geek out over fun characters. Other guests that I recognize so far are: Kris Holden-Ried (Dyson, werewolf on Lost Girl AND werewolf on Underworld: Awakening), Sam Huntington (Josh, werewolf on Being Human), Craig Parker (Gaius Glaber on Spartacus–y’all KNOW that’s my show!–but he was also in The Legend of the Seeker, Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, Lord of the Rings…), and Zoie Palmer (Dr. Lauren, human lover to succubus Bo on Lost Girl). So come hang out with Dicey or come watch me make a fool of myself while I get my fangirl on. Click on the link to see other events and guests and to get tickets.

Lastly, I finally reached over 1000 fans/likes on FB. Yay! My children were pretty happy too and celebrated by pumping the party up. This is a video of my two-year-old and five-year-old dancing to PUMP THA PARTY:

Free Ebook To YOU For My Birthday/Anniversary!

I’m doing some celebrating this week. Why?  Because:

1) It’s been one year since I published my first book,

2) My 38th birthday is in five days.

What I have to show for the last year is more gray hair around my temples, thirty pounds of weight loss, and a total of three published books. I’m nowhere near where I’d like to be in life, but I’m further than I was this time last year. And MUCH further than I would have been had I not stepped outside my comfort zone and ventured into publishing my labors of love.

I assure you taking the risks I have has not been easy. Balancing my roles as a wife, mother, attorney, and author has been downright hard and hectic. But it’s been fun and rewarding as well. Some of the fun has been interacting with all of you wonderful readers and authors. Thank YOU for being on this journey with me!

So…to celebrate, I’m going to make my first published novel Sleepy Willow’s Bonded Soul (The Narcoleptic Vampire Series book 1)  FREE on Kindle for the next five days. Download and read it, if you haven’t already. If you have, THANK YOU! and be sure to write a review and/or tell somebody else to download it while it’s free.

In case you’re not linked to me on Goodreads or Facebook…or just happened to miss the announcement, Sleepy Willow’s Loosed Soul (The Narcoleptic Vampire Series book 3) will be released on October 31, 2012. Here is the cover:

Here is the synopsis: Willow has had it rough…and not just in the sex department. Trials and tribulations have been plentiful, but she’s proven she has what it takes to survive as an illegal undead with narcolepsy.

Her inner strength and powerful supernatural allies have been unexpected weapons in her arsenal. Working at Pit of Hades Fetish Club and being bonded to her lover with multiple personalities have helped her cope. But will these weapons and coping mechanisms be enough to guide her through the strenuous physical and emotional battles ahead? Or will it all crumble under the weight of heinous deeds she must do to become the predestined warrior in the Book of Unbiblical Prophecies?

And in the end, will winning matter if Willow can’t have what she desires most—redemption for her soul?

My Husband Poses For Playgirl…I Mean My Book Promo.

**Updated 11-27-16**
Hubby got tired of me ogling half-naked men online and decided to pose for my lens himself. Guess he wanted to remind me what I had at home. Whoa, baby! I remember! The best part is that I got him to read my third novel: SLEEPY WILLOW’S HEARTLESS SOUL (The Narcoleptic Vampire Series Vol. 2). Win-win for me.

Don’t mind me. I’ll just post a few more pics while I tell you about an interview I did with [redacted on 11-27-16 due to the 3rd party’s blog being deleted]. See my most recent interview here from August 19, 2016.

I also have The National Black Book Festival coming up on June 9th. So if you’re in the Houston, TX area, come check me out. It’ll be a first for me, and yes, I’m nervous. Everybody there will know Eric Jerome Dickey (I’ll be waiting in line for him to sign my books too), but no one will know Dicey. It could be an investment that blows up in my face. But I’d never know if I didn’t try. So I’ll be there. With my dice. And my cover model, Jaies Baptiste. Oh, yeah. Sleepy Willow will be there in the flesh. That should be fun! [Update on 11-27-16: It was a major success, in spite of the festival not being the best environment for an erotic vampire book series. My cover model and I even got a pic with Eric Jerome Dickey. Don’t laugh at it. That was 2012. We’ve made some improvements since then. 😀 Jaies and I have gone on to do even bigger shows, more welcoming of eroticism and horror/fantasy. In fact, our next one is Wizard World ~NOLA, Jan. 6-8th, 2016.]

Hubby even shaved his goatee for these photos. Greased himself in baby oil. Did a few crunches…

Where was I?

Oh, yes. My third novel. An interview. A book festival.

Did I mention some folks have been reading and enjoying my latest book? A few have already posted reviews on Amazon and Goodreads. I didn’t even have to ask one person to do it AND I’ve only met one of the reviewers face-to-face. Amazing. I feel like my books are finally speaking for themselves. I’m so excited about that!

Maybe one more picture for the road. 😀

Thanks, honey!

Added on 11-27-16: On Nov. 15, 2016, I released my 10th book, SLEEPY WILLOW’S REDEEMED SOUL (The Narcoleptic Vampire Series Vol. 4), which makes 7 total in this series, counting the novellas. I hope you’ll check out my books as you check out my hubby’s pics. Thanks.

See my website for more goodies.

Cover For “Sleepy Willow’s Heartless Soul” Revealed.

Ta da! Sleepy Willow’s Heartless Soul: The Narcoleptic Vampire Series Book 2 is expected to be released June 1, 2012. Since I posted this cover to my Facebook page a few days ago, this is old news, but I wanted to share it here in case there is a reader or two who says to heck with FB. Big THANKS to model Jaies Baptiste and graphic designer Grafx Passion for making it happen.

If you haven’t read Sleepy Willow’s Bonded Soul, the first of the series, I hope you’ll do so before June. But only if you think you can handle a SEXY, WILD, DARING, and RISKY dark fantasy novel. Best to check out Chapter One first and see if it’s up your alley. There are several Amazon reviews that may give you an idea of whether this book is right for you too.

If you’ve read book one, I’m happy to inform you that I’m working hard to get the sequel ready. And it will be just as daring as numero uno…if not more so. 🙂

Think BIG. Plan Well. Make It Happen.

It’s a little late for New Year’s Resolutions, but I’ll share my 2012 mantra with you anyway: Think BIG. Plan well. Make it happen.

To start my new year off right, I was featured in the January 2012 issue of Woman’s Essence Magazine (For & About Powerful Women). In fact, I actually made the cover. Yay!

Click on it to read, download, and share the interview. Also read about the best jobs for women in 2012, fashion tips, how to exercise when you’re pregnant, relationship advice, beautiful destinations for your next vacation, and more.

Speaking of vacation…

I enjoyed visiting with friends and family in NC and GA during the holidays. Got a chance to sign a lot of books too. Hopefully, folks will visit with us here in TX next time. 🙂

Another good thing to start my year off well was a 4.5-star review from Jane at Lindsay and Jane’s Views and Reviews: “I liked the writing, the story, the characters, the pace, I enjoyed reading it and the editing was spot on!”

It’s hard putting my work out there for the world to criticize, but it’s always NICE to have it appreciated.

Thanks WE and Jane and Happy 2012 to all!

What Happens After The Day The Sun Stops Shining?

Kneeling down, I closed my eyes and tried to focus on the God I’d always believed in. As a human. And now as a vampire. But it was no use. The time had come. The time to atone for my sins. To face my maker. To give an account for what I’d done with my life…and afterlife.

It didn’t look good since I’d traded my soul for “immortality”. For the chance to exist without my illness. The illness that made me weak. Helpless. Vulnerable. Oh, yeah. I’d given it all up to be free of narcolepsy.

Too bad turning hadn’t cured me.

And too bad, I was about to be punished for it all.

I had no idea when my number would be called. When I’d stand alone before the all-supreme being and finally be cast in the lake of fire along with my boss, Franco. And that motherfucking maistre vampire of mine, Maximilian.

At least there was some justice in that.

But still.

I was scared shitless. Because my time was coming.

It was now dark as smut. No sun. No warmth. No chance of either returning. Although I could see fine in the dark and my body temperature was not affected, it was still scary. For one, my lover–the insane one with several faces–would be judged as well. But which face would be judged? We had no way of knowing. And I loved him so much, it pained me to think he may end up in the same place as me. Because of me.

I did love him.

And it was too late to tell him. Them.

Aaron, Remi…I love you.
